When it comes to packed foods, companies often use the terms like low fat, gluten free, low carb and vegan, just to attract the customers who are more conscious about their health and trying to make healthy choices. Unfortunately it is all about their marketing strategies, to appeal more customers and target a specific market to gain more attention. Here is a list of few foods that may not be as healthy as their companies claim to be: 1. Granola Bars People think that granola and granola bars are healthy for weight loss, though some granola bars are fulled with nutritions, but they can be still unhealthy due to excessive amount of processed sugars and carbohydrates. For best health it is always advised to decrease the sugar intake as low as you can since sugar is the best known for its properties to gain weight which may leads to heart diseases and high blood sugar levels. Healthy snack recipes can be a good alternate to granola bars. 2. Flavoured Yogurts Plain yogurt can be a very healthy choice when it comes to weight loss or healthy eating, but flavoured yogurt can be as unhealthy as any other sugary product, since it contains a lot of sugar which may be hidden under the word “yummy or tasty” but it is sugar after all. Instead of choosing flavoured yogurt it is advised to always go for plain yogurt with fruits for natural sweetness. 3. Protein Drinks Many people are misunderstood by the fact that the higher amount of protein in a food makes it a healthy one, but it is not true. Foods that are naturally high in protein like eggs, fish, meat and beans are no doubt very healthy but items like protein bars and protein shakes/drinks might not be as healthy as you think. 4. Energy Drinks While companies claim energy drinks as a way to increase energy levels, they are totally unnecessary for most people. All the energy drinks contain high amount of sugar, carbohydrates and stimulants like caffeine. These drink can be often considered as dangerous to kids, teens and women specially pregnant ones. 5. Breakfast Cereal It is no more than a myth that instant breakfast cereals are a healthy way to start your day specially when you are losing weight. In fact , most of the cereals contain high amount of carbohydrates with processed grains and less fiber, which can make you hungry soon after your meal. Instead of having breakfast cereals you can try healthy breakfast recipes. 6. Diet Soda Though diet soda does not contain sugar and generally presumed as zero calorie products, but that’s true. Studies show that people who drink more diet soda rather than regular soda are tend to develop more critical health issues. 7. Coffee Some people drink too much coffee to stay energetic and active throughout the day, without realising that every day pick me up might be a hidden calorie offender fo them. It is suggested to drink black coffee instead of sugary white coffee, one cup per day. 8. Frozen foods In today’s busy world, everyone would want a ready to cook food in order to save more time, but they don’t know that frozen foods can be a source of cancer cells in the body. As compared to the fresh fruits and vegetables frozen foods contains a large amount of preservatives and sodium that can cause serious health issues. 9. Plant Based Milk When people start using plant based diets, they often consider plants milk as a healthy source of protein, however in some cases some nut milks may not be as healthy you think. Unless stored from a total organic source, some plant milks may contain added sugars to enhance the taste which may lead to weight gain and other health related problems. 10. Sushi Rolls Everyone loves sushi. I mean who could say no to fish, rice and seaweed. But the choice of fish can impact the total number of calories present in sushi, a regular tuna fish can be healthy however a salmon fish can increase the total calories for sushi.
